An early 20th century Newtown terrace which sought remediation and expansion within the confines of the Enmore heritage conservation area.
With the home among a row of attached terraces, we developed a central lightwell and organised the form from this. The new central void and natural enhanced sustainable functions rarely seen in a terrace such as cross ventilation, natural light, dense insulation, airtight wrapping and thermally broken glazing.
The entry hall and stairs preserve the original brickwork which now remains as a periodic feature. The finishes tie to the mural which overlooks the house entry and street, ensuring a sense of place inside and out.
